The
Summit Deluxe leaves our store at approximately 9:00 am
and takes you to Haleakala's 10,023 foot summit for a view of
the crater and a narrated tour of Haleakala National Park,
which includes the summit, crater, and visitor center. We stage
at 6500' where you ride at your own pace back down to the store.
After your summit experience, we do a van tour of the park and
put you on the bikes at the park entrance. What lies before you
is Maui's famous downhill. You drop 3,000' in 10 miles and curve
around 29 switch backs. Stop often and enjoy the incredible
vistas of west Maui surrounded by the Pacific. Below
4,000' you come to "upcountry Maui". Vegetable truck
farms, protea farms, lodges, galleries and Kula botanical gardens.
You have the option of expanding your day and including
Keokea, the Chinese community, Tedeschi Winery and the Enchanted
Gardens. Further down the mountain is Makawao town- Paniolo
(cowboy) country. Boutiques, shops, and wonderful places to eat
where you can stop and enjoy a liesurely meal.
Children
under 8 years of age cannot ride by themselves. 6-8 year olds
can ride on trailer-bikes.

that we don't include the two hour Haleakala National Park van
tour that we do in our Sunrise And Summit tours. Otherwise the
bike ride and equipment stay the same.
If your focus is just a great bike ride down the volcano and you

Maui Bike Tour Departs approximately 2 hours before sunrise.
Transportation up to Haleakala
Summit, view crater, guided van tour (1-1 1/2 hours) of

We furnish Gary Fisher mountain bike, helmet
backpack, rain/wind gear, gloves and map with points of
interest. Self guided bike ride down the
mountain back to store in Haiku. Return by
10AM
The
Sunrise specialleaves
our store two hours before sunrise, arriving at Haleakala's 10,023' summit about an hour before
sunrise. You watch the sun come up over the
crater, a truly spectacular sight. Mark
Twain described sunrise at the summit of Haleakala, "...the
sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed".
Some call it the eighth wonder of the world, others call
it a "power center". It is all that and more.
At once forbidding and compelling, Haleakala National
Park is Maui's main natural attraction. Just
going up the mountain is quite an experience, let alone
biking down! No where else can you climb
from sea level to 10,023' in less than an hour. At the
summit, the 3,000' deep crater you peer down into is 7
miles long, 2 miles wide and 21 miles in circumference.
Big enough to contain Manhattan! Inclusions: Helmet, backpack, gloves
and rain/wind gear. Transportation to the Summit, and
a narrated tour of the national park.

Haleakala National Park/Upcountry Van Tour is
available for those who do not wish to bike, but want
to see the park. Included in this tour is a no-host
breakfast at Kula Lodge, a visit to the winery,
and a drive through tour of Makawao, our Paniolo town.
It continues on to Haiku Town, and Paia Town. There
is also a stop at the Alii Kula
Lavendar farm and a no-host lunch stop at the Ulupalakua
Ranch store when at the winery.
